How to apply for a Grassroots Trust grant
Grassroots Trust funds sport, education and community groups where its venues are, with a strong footprint in Waikato and Auckland. The form is one of the shorter ones, but the supporting documents trip people up.

Who can apply

What it funds
- Gear, uniforms and coaching.
- Team travel costs.
- Education and community programmes.
Documents to have ready
- Your organisation's bank deposit slip.
- Financial statements.
- A cover letter and a resolution to apply.
- An affiliation letter, if you are affiliated.
- A preferred quote plus a competitive quote for each item, or a letter explaining why there is only one.
- Operational invoices, if you are asking for running costs.
- An employment contract and position description, if you are asking for wages.
- ID for two authorisers.
- Proof of the event, a list of travellers or a vehicle letter of commitment, where they apply.
Mistakes that cost you a round
- Trusting an old date. Grassroots Trust says its meeting and closing dates can change without notice. Check its apply page in the week you submit.
- Missing the second authoriser. Two people need to provide ID.
- Applying from the wrong area. The money is distributed where it was raised, so confirm there is a venue near you first.
Can you pay someone to help?
Grassroots Trust prefers organisations to apply directly. You can still get help preparing the application, as long as your organisation applies in its own name, your own contact person is the named contact, and any fee is a flat fee paid whatever the outcome. The fee never comes out of the grant.
